512mb nV cards starting to show up too.

Was looking at ATI's announcement and saw this;

<A HREF="http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?threadid=128073&perpage=10&pagenumber=1" target="_new">http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?threadid=128073&perpage=10&pagenumber=1</A>

Funny everyone's ragging on him having the card, and saying there's no use for 512cards, but even ATi's PR shows there could be some benifits. Gotta wait for the review sites to do detailed investigations.

ebay auction picks look a bit sus, Great ape look at the links of pics sent in by the bmx guy in the link of the the forum u posted then look at the ebay link (below) pics there the same ones.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=40161&item=5170582577&rd=1

and now look at the quadro 4400 there the same card, if you could mod the bios with rivatuner or other software, you can make the drivers say its a pink elephant smoking weed with 512 mb ddr3 ram.

it probably really does have 512 of ddr but i dont think its a 6800 512mb.

Well here's some slightly better pics for ya' (not for dial-up):

<A HREF="http://www.techyparts.com/tema/DSC_0820.JPG" target="_new">http://www.techyparts.com/tema/DSC_0820.JPG</A>

<A HREF="http://www.techyparts.com/tema/DSC_0821.JPG" target="_new">http://www.techyparts.com/tema/DSC_0821.JPG</A>

Could be a GF6 sticker added-on but it doesn't look like the Quadro when up close (the RAM is GDDR3 1.6ns BTW), but could be anything. Considering the cost of the GDDR3 memory alone, I doubt this is a plain GF6800.

I'm not going to defend the card/owner, I'll just defend what I see.

sorry buddy i mean a fake 6800ultra not 6800.

read the full thread trust me its interesting but stupid, kind of sucks you in. but you can see the BS.

also a pic of a fx4400 can be ultered to make you money. how good can you get at photo editing to make yourself $2500. they are sliperry guys who just fooled a lot of people buddy. all the sites are quoting this guy all the way to the inquirer.

this is fuckked up.

Yeah I actually found it from Guru3D. In any case, it'll happen eventually with Gainward, that someone claims to have one now, but WE still can't buy one, doesn't change much for us IMO.

I personally thought thisa was a 'well so do we' aprroved leak by nV guys, up until the e-bay stuff. Now I don't know what to think (Maybe April Fool's a month and a day early?

Those Gainward look pretty nice, I think i'm going to buy an air cooled version of 2800 Ultra series, or a Sapphire X850XT PE AGP :)

Yeah, it's a preview but they have those ATi PR benchies from the Xbit article, but they are more visible now;

At the beginning of last year I would've said we'd see the last of them by that fall. Now this year with the experience of the dismal launch of the Prescotts and the delays of the AMD64 PCIe solutions, I'd say it's very likely that you will see a solid showing of hsi/rialto bridged solutions from the high-med-low end of the R5xx series, and whatever the nV next series name is (NV5x/G7x/Z24 ?), simply because it has taken so f'in long to get PCIe solutions to the market that the AGP market has had a mini-reprieve right before the chopping block. People who were waiting for next gen, couldn't get the new gen PCIe cards anywhere near the release date of the AGP models so many bought a GF6800U/GT or X800XT/PRO because they just couldn't wait with D3 and HL2 already in their hands. Now those people will likely be looking for new MoBos either this fall or early 2006 with newer features like dual core, DDR2 on AMD64s, etc. but they will also have this nice expensive, still funlly functional graphics card that's AGP that they'll still want to use (plus the hangers-on/ludittes who will never wanna giveup AGP). So there'll big a big enough market to support continuing making AGP mobos. This will mean that there will still be some market for AGP, but it will be shrinking somewhat, but still enough to make some money off of. The delay of PCIe during the time of D3 and HL2 will cause a HUGE delay in full PCIe adoption likely all the way until UE3 based games, Quake4, Oblivion and other games that potentially cause another 'upgrade-fever', but until then you may see people saying My MoBo's fine, where's my damn AGP cards!

I'm pretty confident that the answer is basically agp cards for sure in the R5xx generation, and <i>likely</i> only agp for the mid to low end beyond that (R6xx/NV6x? generation).

Of course that's just my two frames' worth.
