My friend would like me tomrrow to take a look his new Compaq PC he bought from a rental company.(lol, ya right, that's what the rental company says at least) He cannot install all the Windows updates. It is a Compaq AMD 2.4 w/ XP Home.
The rental company puter tech says.. " ya really don't need the updates anyway, you'll be fine." LOL what a joke.
Anyway, would you have any idea's on what to try???

Since it was a rental computer LOL... Best bet is to wax it and install a fresh OS. Not a big fan of xp home tho :) Give me a sec to find some links for symantec and microshaft blaster wurm removal. That could be what is wrong with it.
