I recently figured out that an i3 CPU cannot handle streaming League of Legends without serious lag issues. With both up and running, I get about 2 FPS and my CPU usage maxes out at 99%. I came to the conclusion that I needed an upgrade to my current laptop. Here are the parts I hope are good enough:
CPU: An i5 or i7 seems to be enough, but can someone please tell me if i7 is overkill or not? Also, I'm pretty new to computer parts, so all I know is that there are 2600k or 3000k variants or something. What is the bare minimum in terms of price for an i5 or i7 with an adequate "variant"?
RAM: On my current laptop, I can stream and play League of Legends, but even though the game lags horribly, my RAM doesn't exceed 3 GB of total usage. Does that mean the 4 GB of RAM I already have is okay, or will there be problems if I switch my CPU?
Motherboard: Do laptop livestreamers need to worry about this? I'm not very well-versed in motherboards, so is a standard-issue motherboard okay for a laptop, or does it need to be different?
Graphics Card: I currently have the standard-issue card in my laptop (Intel (R) HD Graphics Family, so it says), and I can run windowed mode with almost maxed-out settings in League at about 50-60 FPS. It's only when I'm streaming that my FPS takes a major hit. Is this also the graphics card's fault, or should it be just fine?
That's really about all I can think of that is of immediate consequence. If I can get a reply from someone who knows their stuff with some specifications, that would be splendid.
EDIT: I currently have a Lenovo Thinkpad (one of the latest series, I believe), and I'm not picky on which brand suits my needs the best. Also, if I missed any specifications, please reply and mention it ASAP. Cheers!
