Problems with battery life of emachines E525

says battery not charging replace soon. had another same model e525 that had a broken screen. decided to take that battery out of broken computer and put in the one that said battery needed to be replaced. but the reading still says the same thing battery needs to be replaced. do i need to install a program to let the notebook know i've changed & replaced a new battery
