cannot load word for windows 6.0 files

i was needing to open up something on the web,but i had a message come up
saying
can not load word for windows 6.0 files
i am home xp service pack 2
i am i beginner so please use simple language

Essentially, you do not have a program installed that is capable of reading
'Word for Windows 6.0' installed on your computer..

Download the MS Word viewer from this site.. it should enable you to see the
files..
