I had a suggestion to put it in the top rack of a dishwasher, but I
don't own a dishwasher? Anyone have other ideas for cleaning chassis?

Thanks.

I have used a Steam pressure washer on 3 of mine.
Just make shure that they are REALLY dry and do not use the high pressure.

Air compressor will do some justice. Won't turn her minty fresh by
any means. Just gets a layer off.

I like to use compressed air from a compressor with a dryer on it, and
a soft wide cheap paint brush. I tape up the metal around the brush. I
cringe on putting any board in a dish washer. To many contaminates in
the drinking water we use. I have seen the damage to many times that
water dose as it sits under an IC, especialy the larger SMTs. Even
after hitting it with compressed air and drying it with a low setting
heat gun you still end up with the mineral deposits that were in the
water sitting under the IC eating away at the traces and the inside of
the IC legs. When they wash boards at the factor to get rid of the
solder resin they use purified/filtered water. It's one thing to clean
the bottom of your boards with an old tooth brush and water or
Isopropal Alchol 80 percent. Washing boards in a dishwasher can be a
quick fix and aid in the repair of the board. In the long run you have
invited more problems to show up on the circuit board. Especialy double
side boards + were the traces run under Larger IC's.

A Soft paint brush, dry compressed air, old tooth brush, cloth rag and
ISO Alcohol dose a great job of cleaning up boards.

Spray the chassis w/ a mild cleaner like Tuff Stuff and let it sit for
about 5-10 minutes. They wash off in your sink, use the sink sprayer if
you have one and it should clean up nicely. Let dry for 1/2 hour, then
give it a blast w/ compressed air, and then let dry for a day or so.

Compressed air at the service station. You need to find a repair garage
that has a "blowgun" attachment..

Spray chassis liberally with Simple Green cleaner (Home Depot). Let sit
for 5 minutes or so. Take garden hose and spray all junk and gunk off.
If you have an air compressor, blow excess water off. Set in driveway
in hot Texas sun for 1 hour. Looks great and easy to fix. Done this a
bunch of times with no problems.

Blech -- can't stand the smell of Simple Green.

I've found that Tuff Stuff works better and hardly smells. Simple Green
seems to be a lot more popular though...
