I will be building a new pc soon. First time. Yay!!! I hope. Anyways I was wondering if I could get some input on which gfx cards to look in to. I do a few odds and ends with my pc but really its just for gaming. MMO's and whatever else rocks. I have a PCI gfx card right now in this pc. bfg tech. nvidia powered. for 256mb i think. It runs most fine but my roomate bought a AGP card for like half the price and it beats mine out. It makes me think AGP runs better than PCI but thats only one instance. If you have any input, please inform. Thanks

There is no real difference in performance between AGP 8x and PCI-express.

The old PCI (non-express) is much slower though.

I often remind the uninformed that the video card 3d performance factors (from most to least important) are:

1- Architecture (GPU type, # of pipelines, etc) - MOST IMPORTANT
2- Memory interface (64, 128, 256-bit)
3- Clockspeeds
4- Amount of RAM - LEAST IMPORTANT (assuming you have enough for the minimum spec of the game)

A great GPU with 64 megs of RAM is always preferable to a crappy GPU with 256 megs of RAM, assuming all other factors are equal.
