GF6600GT vs GF6800LE

Hi All

I am considering buying a new graphics card and am partial to the Gforce line-up. I am looking particularly at two cards - the Gforce 6600GT 128MB AGP, and the 6800LE 128MB AGP. I am battling to find any direct comparisons between the two and would appreciate your opinion on which to buy. Both are within my budget however the 6800LE is about 25% more expensive. Is it worth this additional cost? Your opinions much appreciated.

If it was a 6800nu that would be my choice. Since it is an "LE", I would have to suggest the 6600GT model.

6600gt for sure, the 6800LE has only 8 piplines and OC less than the 6600gt, but if you can unlock the piplines on the LE to 16 then the LE. but its a big risk.

I am agreeing with RX8. The 6600GT wins more tests than it loses for sure when they are both left at stock. If succesfully modded to 12 or 16 pipes, obviously the 6800LE would be faster.

What you are dealing with are both cards are 8 pipes. The 6800LE has a 256-bit memory interface which helps it to win in some tests. But the 6600GT is clocked much higher, which usually more than makes up for it's memory bus.

My opinion is GF6800>GF6600GT>GF6800LE.

On a side note, from what I've read modding the 6800LE has a (relatively) high chance of success.

(i.e. most of the time they are successfully moddable to at least 12 pipes)

So if you're a betting man, and aren't afraid to mod, go for it.

Well take to heart what Cleeve mentioned, but if you're not adventurous,then the GF6600GT is your best choice.
