I heard that it maybe a Bad Thing to put your speakers next to your monitor because they may interfere with the monitor magnet, resulting in display issues (e.g. text 'shadowing'). Can anyone confirm this? If so, how can it be fixed?
Any feedback greatly appreciated.

Almost all PC speakers are magnetically shielded so that they don't interfere with the monitor or any other magnetic sensitive material. Mine are unshielded Pinnacle loudspeakers but I keep mine about two feet from the monitor. If you get the 'shadowing' effects on your monitor, try moving your speakers away from the monitor and use the monitors degauss button/option to remove the shadowing from the monitor BUT ONLY hit the degauss button 1 (one) time every 30 (thirty) minutes to remove the discoloration because you can damage your monitor if you use the degauss feature more than once in a thirty minute cycle. *Takes deep breath now*

Putting speakers next to monitor can cause permanent damage to to monitor, so the dark areas from the screen sometimes do not vanish from the screen after putting the speakers away. Other way it is possible, that low quality desk lamps with voltage converter can cause screen (?convergency? did I write well?) problems. So if u do not have to, do not put any electrical device next to the monitor even if you have warranty because it do not covers this type of problems.

That's why we use 'Magnetically Shielded' PC speakers. Have you ever seen the Compaq monitors? <A HREF="http://www5.compaq.com/showroom/monitors.html" target="_new">http://www5.compaq.com/showroom/monitors.html</A>

Unshield speakers may cause the damage but I'm not sure if it's permanent. Did I mention the Degauss button? You could always try turning the monitor off for a few hours.
