Hi,
I've reconnected to my ISP (after reformatting hard drive) using the Dial Up Networking method but it takes a lot, lot longer to log on and get connected than my usual connection that was registered online. It also verifies my username and password twice. Does anyone know what's going on?

did you change os?

i went to the tomshardware forums and all i got was this lousy signature.

Make sure all "advanced options" are disabled except enable software compression, and disable all protocols not used in the "allowed network protocols" section (like only enable tcp/ip - usually the one used). These are found in the "server type" tab of your dail up properties in Win98se. It might be different for different os.
