I'm trying to get my Sony Ericsson T610 configured as a bluetooth modem so
I can access my dialup ISP. Sometimes I'm stuck without a landline or
wireless network and want to be able to use the T610 instead. My laptop
has bluetooth and synchronization with Outlook works. The bluetooth modem
seems to be working and it dials but can't login on my dialup account. Can
someone help me to get this working?

Unfortunately, the protocol to dial up an ISP is no longer available from
most cellular carriers. You have to use their GPRS offerings instead but
they are usually pricey.

The phone dialed but a connection was never established. "Error 678: The
remote computer did not respond."

I setup the connection using the Sony Ericsson dialup networking wizard.

I had Fido turn on GPRS data service for me and got it working at 3 cents
per kilobyte.

I don't see any way to get this phone to work for dialup. I don't think
the phone is even dialing when I try this.

Dialup will no longer work on the FIDO network.. and this took me awhile to
remember, terminology seems so old now, but CSD is not supported anymore
(CSD = Circuit Switched Data). That' what you need to dialup, aint there no
more. Sorry.

If you have a web interface for your email provider you could use GPRS to
attach to that service (via the web) or use POP email over GPRS to pull down
email. If it's for surfing, GPRS (with FIDO as your ISP) is the only option
for this.

OK thanks, I thought it was just the phone I was using had the modem
disabled. I guess I'll forget about dialup then.
