I hear from time to time about DirectX11. Is it released and available from Microsoft and how do I check which version I already have installed?

From this Microsoft Website Page, You can clearly know that DirectX11 is included with Windows 7 itself & It'll be updated automatically, if you run Automatic Windows Update!
So Don't worry about installing Dx11
