Tempest spinner - use Missile command trackball for testing?

In the absence of a Tempest spinner, is it okay to use a small Missile
Command (or Centipede) trackball just to check if the inputs are okay
on a Tempest boardset? Obviously the trackball won't work the same as
the spinner but I guess it should be good enough to check out the
inputs?

So I'm guessing that the connections would equate to (Missile command
on the left, Tempest on the right):

Missile Command Tempest

Vert. Tball Dir DIR1
Vert. Tball Clock CLK1
Horiz. Tball Clock CLK2
Horiz. Tball Dir DIR2

Correct?

Yep...

I've played tempest with a trackball, using my tempest -> quantum control
panel... it'a VERY HARD.

I'm not surprised. :)

Cheers for the confirmation.
