It'll likely make very little difference as they are both made by Sapphire.

The one thing to consider is that the ATi one may include DVD playback capabilities in it's driver disk. It was on my sapphire one too, but hidden away and required extracting it before installing it.

Either or pretty much.

Just a thought, but if you can find a refurbed 6600GT in that price range it will outperform the X700.

I have a modded Dell 420sc (8x pci-e modded to fit 16x), and many people have had a x700 work, i tried one in mine and it worked, but i have read about 7 people that had 6600gt's that didn't work.
Since both cards are refurb, i dont think they come with any cds or anything else.

Also, should I pay a bit more and get a different one than either of these?

If I wait a few months, will prices drop much, new products be released? How long would I have to wait?

These cards undoubtably come with at least a driver CD with owners manual on that CD. Refurb would still provide that because you would need it to install the card (not everyone has internet, surprising but damn true). Just expect that to be the most you get, if you do get anything else, Bonus!

If you wait prices may drop somewhat, but likely not 'too far'. They just dropped the price of the R9600P on the AGP side to put prssure on nV's pricing, but I wouldn't expect that to happen much throughout the field unless a third party really impresses with their cards, and really there's nothing near term that goes up against these cards (more competition for the X300/GF6200/X600 level).

Just got in my 9800Pro refurb. It came with the card and the power cable - nothing else. No driver CD...nothing else. I can understand the lack of all the other goodies, but it should have come with the installation software!

WOW!

That's really surprising. Of all the things not to have.

I stand corrected, it appears that the dumba$$es might just do that!

Newegg refurbs rarely come with a driver disc. Only if you luck out on a retail box version. I once got everything included on a refurb retail Gainward GF3Ti200 powerpack golden sample. Honestly, usually the more expensive ones have more in the box. If you see a $125 Saphire 9800 pro and a $149 Saphire 9800 pro, chances are the more expensive one has more than just a card in the box.

Im not sure of the answer to your question, so I guess I would be safe and stick with the X700Pro. The only reason that I suggested the other is because I ahve both the 660GT and X700Pro and the6600GT is slightly better. The X700 will hang with it in most apps.

I got what I paid for. The drivers/software weren't an issue - just made sure I had everything before I did the upgrade. Went smooth as silk and I'm running on her right now!

I don't think it matters which one. The warranty is only 15 days for either, so that's just enough to thoroughly test it. My last newegg refurb a few weeks back was a R9800 pro and it was bad as the ram artifacted unless I underclocked it. I got a full refund, but lost my return shippping charges of $8.

Anyway, there is really no advantage to the ATI one as warranty is the same and there is no way to know what comes in the box. If either is a retail box version, go for that one.

I don't think either one was a retail box, they both said OEM, Barebone or something.

I guess what I was wondering is which one would be faster at its Max Overlcock.
Thanks

THG just did an article that compares X700Pro to 6600GT performance - take a look <A HREF="http://www20.graphics.tomshardware.com/graphic/20050404/index.html" target="_new">here</A>

The fastest one is probably going to be the 6600GT. I got my 6600GT to OC a good bit higher than my X700PRO. The only reason that I said to be safe and go with the ATI card was because you said that the 6600GT didnt always work with the setup that you have.

Max overclock between the ATI and Sapphire is a crapshoot. Sapphire makes the BBA cards. There is no way of knowing. I have two R9800 pros, 1 Sapphire, one BBA, both retail box versions. Surprisingly, the Sapphire way out overclocks the BBA in both core and RAM. The BBA was about 6 months newer even. But take two more cards and the results might be different. Personally, I would buy a new BBA over a Sapphire. But that doesn't mean it will out-OC it. BBA is just a solid card with a 3 year warranty. But in the case of refurbs, that doesn't matter.

What is the difference between these two sapphire x700 pro 256MB cards?

More than likely the difference is that one of the refurbs has more of the orig packaging...CD, cables adapters, etc. Be forewarned I just got a refurb from the egg and all I got was a video card and the power cable - make sure you have the drivers downloaded before you start the swap.
