I posted on this board and got no help for my sound being distorted when I
used the keyboard or the mouse. After digging a lot, I came up with the
solution I hope this helps, and people don't take the advise of those who
say you have a junk sound card.

I went to System Properties, Hardware, Device Manager,
IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and opened that, and selected Primary IDE
Channel, then the Advanced settings tab, the Transfer Mode was set to PIO, I
changed it to DMA if available, and this changed the Current Transfer Mode:
to Ultra DMA Mode 2. This took care of the sound distortion. I hope that
this will help someone.
