I'm looking to upgrade my computer mostly for the purpose of playing WoW better than what I'm currently running. I have my motherboard, proc, and RAM picked out but I'm torn between video cards. I'm considering the GeForce 6600 series either the 6600GT or the 6600 (256). My friend tells me that WoW wants RAM over GPU and all the reviews I've looked at of course are benchmarking on FPS games which I'm told require much fewer memory space. They're both SLI capable on PCI-E which got me thinking of possibly adding another GT in the future for the extra RAM and GPU if that's necessary. While I will be primarily be playing WoW I also enjoy the occasional FPS. Maybe nvidia has a 256 6600GT in the works? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. The 128s have been out for a while now and I wonder how much longer they can hold out...

P.S.
I don't have the money for a 200+ card so the 6800s are out.

Thanks,
clint

this has been answered many times before, but here it is again, the 6600 series cards cannot use more than 256mb's of ram, so it shows marginal advantages, the 6600GT 128mb will outperform the 6600 256mb significantly in ANY application.

6600GT > 6600

That's like saying which Mustang will perform better: regular Mustang or a Mustang GT

A Mustang GT with a 50 gallon gas tank is faster than a regular Mustang with a 100-gallon gas tank.
