I just installed the Windows Media Center 2005 upgrade to my HP 864 Media
Center (Now out of warranty so no help available from HP).

I cannot access Media Center - get error message: 'Tuner Not Found- Tuner
hardware is either malfunctioning or is not installed. Please ensure both
tunner hardware or valid tuner driver are installed.';

The Hauppage Win TV PVR PCI II tuner that came with the computer was working
fine before the upgrade. I even installed the driver upgrade prior to
installing the MCE upgrade (as per the website instructions).

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

You should consult the experts in the Windows Media Center newsgroup:

Hello, I am getting the same message - one night I watch tv next morning can't and I did not do any upgrade at that time and this went on for days however if I keep hitting a restore point it comes back on with a lower resolution but I have to keep restoring. Since then ran the HP diagnostics and updated drivers and contacted local town tech -no help. I am not a tech and the one in town where I live does not know either. Any ideas so I can find help

I am sorry...I am not a tech...uninstall and reinstall what. I have not added the tv tuner it came with my system and had been functioning. Is it that I should uninstall all my programs and then reinstall or reset to factory or use the cd's burned when my computer was purchased...I am not thick just not clear. I was only using the program and the computer as it was when I got it fromt he store over a year ago...this just happened last week and don't know why the tv tuner quit working and is showing up and not installed.

I don't know how to unistall or reinstall the tuner if that is what you are suggesting and the tech at the Staples store where I got the computer a year ago deosn't know what is wrong either and why it has quit working. There is another company i can take it to but they are back logged and I need my computer daily...run a business as well as use it as my tv. Thanks for replying- I jsut want to understand is all.

Do you have windows update turned on?
If so it may have updated and you didnt know it.
Some times update can cause things to stop working.

As for the un/reinstall it seems that half of it is done already.

See if you can find the model number for the tuner.
If you are unsure how to get the drivers post the model number here and I will try to find them for you.

Not to worry it is a easy thing to do.
You wont have to delete any programs or anything else.
