Can I buy a Gigabyte 6600GT Turbo Edition to run in SLI with my standard Gigabyte 6600GT or does it have to be exactly the same card?

It's supposed to be the same card for maximum chance to work together. Ask gigabyte and if they don't know, then ask nVidia.

It has to at least be the exact same card.

Some people are finding that even the same card with the same bios don't work together if not purchased relatively close to each other. Kinda hit and miss, but at the very least they have to be the same card.
