Yo guys, my R9600pro got fried, I'm using a GF MX440 (UNDERSTAND THE PAIN!)

I want to upgrade my graphics card. On a extremely tight budget, so I've got only a few cards that works for me.

1) nVidia GF 6200 AGP (Maybe!)
2) R9600Pro (AGAIN!, BGA Mem chips though.)
3) R9600XT (sucky TSOP memory)

Thanks a bunch dudes.

1GB Corsair DDR400 ValueSelect (CL2.5) @ DDR440
PowerColour R9600Pro @ C480/M700 (backing it down for a while)

Like scottchen mentions the GF6200 might be a good deal because many can ne unlocked to GF6600 abilities.

As for the R9600 choices, the cards are memory limited, so the BGA memory is what you want. Not sure about all, but most R9600Ps can be OC'ed to 500mhz, and as such will give you good power, but they all lack memory and if you get good BGA memory then 330mhz should be a given as well (with the good stuf 350+ is easily achieved). TSOP usually mean little/no OC.

So I'd say GF6200(if modable) > R9600P > R9600XT > GF6200 (if not modable) based on the memory on the R9600s.

I would live with the MX4000 for awhile and save some money. Why buy ANOTHER 9600PRO? At LEAST, LEAST....get a 9800pro. You have a high-end PC, why choke it to death with a generation ago middle class card? or why replace the card that just died with the same card? Save some money and UPGRADE your card. Don't go sideways.

I just popped the heatsink off of a Sapphire 8500le tonight and discovered it had a Radeon 8800 core. I'm mounting a large passive CPU heatsink on it to use in a quiet media PC.

Are you sure you can't find a 9700? They're crazy-cheap on pricewatch, and it'd kill all of your other choices.

Yeah, it's a FireGL 8800 branded chipset I guess Sapphire used and named it an 8500le in the bios. I took a picture, but it is hard to read that it says Radeon 8800. Somewhere I had found a french site that has a good picture of the same situation, but for the life of me I can't find it agin.
