Helllo,
have any of you have experiences with the Radeon 9250 and the game Far Cry? I will be using this card temporary for a few months and will upgrade to a better card, I don't want to miss out on good games such as Call of Duty, Far Cry and Brothers In Arms, of course I will temporary be playing these games with low detail setting and low resolution, but can these games be playable with the Radeon 9250?
Appreciate the help.

My 3rd LAN computer has a 9100, and it gets by, almost, with all the settings turned off or at the lowest setting... play some good 4-year-old game for the next few months until you upgrade...

Yep, certainly playable but only with alot of the eye-candy turned off and at low resolutions.

I reckon you'd be able to play 800x600 very low detail or 640x480 low-to-medium detail.

My TI4200 plays Far Cry.

800x600 is the lowest setting on FarCry...

FarCry was the first game where I saw my 9700np kick butt over my Ti4200... most games until that time were very even in performance...

My opinion on Radeon 9250 and farcry: Playably...possibly. Enjoyable...doubtful.

Here is an in-depth review of many radeon 9250's. The cards do well in older games, and even UT2004. But they don't even try and test Farcry and Doom3, stating these games are a "No-Go" for these cards.

If you have the card, try it. If you can borrow it or get it dirt cheap, go for it. But spending good hard cash on this card when you hope to play recent released games, just be prepared to be dissapointed. $80 on a radeon 9600 pro would be a better bargain in the US, or at least look for a Radeon 9550 128-bit or GF4Ti4200 if the 9600 pro is too costly.

Farcry was the first game for me that made me think less of my 9800 pro. Until farcry, I was thinking the 9800 pro was downright beastily powerful handling 1280x1024 high/max in everything I played. Then farcry demo came out...I was wowed by the graphics but found 1024x768 med/high to be all she could handle.
