I just assembled a new system, the specs are:

ASUS A8V Deluxe
AMD 64 3500+
ATI RADEON 9700 PRO
1GB RAM

My problem is that as soon as I installed Windows XP Pro, I got to the welcome screen and it keeps restarting there. Finally, I went to safe mode and changed my video card drivers. I was then able to get into Windows in normal mode, but now it restarts when I try to run games.

I let Windows default drivers load because its required first before you can install ATI's ones. AFter this is tried the original drivers on from the CD from the manufacturer, and after this failed, I tried the newest Catalyst drivers from the ATI website.

I am determined this is a video driver conflict, but I understand it might be the video card incompatibility with the mobo, maybe the video card went bad in the transfer to the new pc, or maybe it doesnt like a 64 bit cpu. I'm not an expert this is why I'm asking all you graphic gurus out there!~!!

Please help.. or else no more games for me :[

Did you install the AGP drivers for the motherboard?

yes, I installed all the drivers off of the Asus motherboard CD, and I do remember those.

Did you disable Fastwrites in the drivers?

That often helps for similar situations (happened to my card a while back).

Other than that it'll take a bit of trouble shooting like checking to see if there are IRQ conflicts, do you have a few PCI cards?

Maybe others have some suggestions.

IT's in the control panel/control centre.

My PC at home is out of commision (still haven't had time to replace the HSF) so I can't take a screenie, but maybe someone here could do it for you if you tell them which Catalyst version you are using control centre or control panel.

Hey dont worry about it. I discovered it was the card, so I just went out and bought an Nvidia 6800GT OC. Problem solved!

Good card, be sure to use drivercleaner before installing the nV drivers.
