Might be worth something to someone able to scan it in, separate the
image, and reprint it. Since I haven't worked in graphic arts in many
years, it would probably be worth $20 or so to me just because it is
cool and (apparently) very rare..

Wow, I have one of those - if it's worth that much, mine's for sale too
;^) I doubt very seriously that he will get that much for it. Sounds
like a good story too, but not sure where he got his facts. I don't
think it was ever "banned" from anywhere - I did hear that "some"
operators didn't put them up by choice in some locations but they all
wanted them. He didn't even mention the fact that the girl on the
poster worked in the Human Resources department of ATARI at the time.
(can't remember her name though - but it will come to me eventually)
and I don't think they were that rare, they were on walls in offices
and hallways throughout the Milpitas offices. I got a history lesson on
it because one year we had a big "harassment free work environment"
movement - lots of people were told to remove anything that could be
considered sexually harassing or offensive. The first argument from the
majority was "what about the centipede chick" management deemed it
"art" not smut and that was the reason they were not banned from the
building.

Hey Dave, that's a pretty interesting story. I don't suppose the
history lesson you got included any info on the girl in the old
Computer Space poster, did it? I'd love to find out more information
about her.

She is probably an old scank by now if not dead.

The game is definitely not as big as it looks in that poster. It's only
66" high so I suspect she is really short and you'll notice the machine
is leaning forward compared to her so my guess is they propped it up to
make it look even bigger.
The rumor I heard was that the lady shown in the photo is none other
than Yvette Mimieux, the lead actress in the 1960 George Pal film The
Time Machine. The rumor floating around seems to imply that the makers
of the flyer wanted a model who was both beautiful as well as "space
age." However, this rumor seems to have been debunked. Given where
Computer Space was developed and the limited budget this machine would
have had for advertising, the woman in question was more likely an
employee of The Brass Rail bar, a favorite hangout of computer
engineers in the Sunnyvale area. Given that The Brass Rail was a strip
joint, one can draw one's own conclusion as to the lady's career
history.
I'd still like more info on her though as this stuff is for my website

I think its funny atari decided to make a nude centipede poster in the
first place. Must of had something to do with that beer tap in someones
desk.
"lets put a naked chick with this centipede poster! yea!!"

Sorry, I don't know anything about the Computer Space girl. I have been
to the Brass Rail, wouldn't surprise me if that is actually where they
found her.
