Hi folks,

Please recommend an economic PCIe graphic card, approx USD40- to match ECS nforce4-A939 mobo. The box to be built is for testing software only, not for game nor for graphic editing.

What RAM capacity will be sufficient /16/32/64/128 ?

TIA

Pop an old PCI card in one of the standard PCI slots, you probably have a free one laying somewhere.

Hi Crashman,

Tks for your advice which is a good idea. I don't know whether I still have PCI graphic card available. I'll search from my shelves. I'm sure I have ATX graphic card.

Am afraid ATX is just the form factor of the system... all graphics cards can be called ATX...

get 1 of those PCI-e turbocache cards, cheapest 2 buy if you have no PCI graphic cards

Trust me I know what I'm doing... ooops, grab the cat...

Hi marneus,

Sorry it was my typing mistake "not ATX, should be AGP". I recognized it immediately after posting but I have not idea to correct it.

I found;
Leadtek WINFAST PX6200 TD
GF 6200 / 128MB / DDR RAM
http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/winfast_px6200_td_1.html

Leadtek WINFAST PX360 TD
GF PCX 5750 / 128MB / DDR RA
http://www.leadtek.com/3d_graphic/winfast_px360_td_1.html

both PCIe card with nVidia chipset, easy for me getting driver to run Linux/Unix.

PX360 TD is lower in price. PX6200 can run overclocking which I don't think I'll use. It is for playing games. To get PX6200 is solely for me learning the technique of setup overclocking when I have time.

Do you have any equivalent in mind with lower price.

There's nothing to be gained from overclocking those cards. It's kind of like installing a racing exhaust system in a Geo Metro.

frankly neither i would use 4 games but as u not interested in games but given the choice, the 6200 would be of more worth (newer series with new technology in it)

Trust me I know what I'm doing... ooops, grab the cat...

Not true. The 6200 overclocks very well and can get 6000+ in 3DMark 2003 (for relatively comparison purposes). It will play your games much better than the FX5750.

Uhhh...It's not for gaming.

Oh... For some reason when I read that post about the 5750 and the 6200 I saw something about gaming...
