Which graphics card offers the most for the least at the moment?
I have a pentium 3 1000/133 chip and a geforce3 ti200 card. I think i will need to wait a long time before getting my next system and a faster graphics card is the best way for me to hold on... :)

Thanks!

I would agree that the 6600gt would be your best bet. Yes it will fit in an AGP slot, but I'm not sure about Linux compatability.

Yep any nVidia card has pretty good support with Linux. I have a R9700 Pro running SuSE 9.2 and it absolutely sucks in terms of support. 3D's not all too hot either. A 6600GT AGP would be a good upgrade for you.

It will fit in an AGP slot if you buy one of the AGP cards - they are made in both AGP and PCIe. Make sure you know which one you're buying...

Here is a 6800nu for under $200. In fact only $189 after rebate. Darn, thats a good price.
** As long as your case isn't extremely small, meaning a Dell or Compaq case, you should be good to go. These cards require a molex power connector, so make sure you got at least a 250 watt power supply. List your full specs, to make sure it will be compatible.

Well, its like this. The manufacturers say 300 watts because most systems are probably pretty new. The processors use upwards of 70 watts, and pairing that with 2 hard drives, 2 CD drives, and the 6800, they reccomend 300 watts. People have been putting this card in SFF boxes for months now, and these boxes only have 200 or 250 watts. That being said, he should be OK with 250 watts, considering his CPU only takes about 30 watts to run, compared to an XP 3000+ taking 76 watts. I would like to know his full system specs first though.
