Hi there,

I'm helping a friend with his PC - he installed SP2 recently from a disk and
everything seemed fine except that his memory stick (which he keeps all his
data on) 'disappeared'. No error messages - you just couldn't see it at all.
I did a restore to remove SP2 and it reappeared again.
I'd like to get him onto SP2 eventually - can you explain what's happening
here please ? Thanks.

Go to Start/Run, and type DEVMGMT.MSC , highlight the USB Hub devices, Action menu, "Uninstall", then restart Windows, to find the
device drivers again automatically.

Mark ,
You didn't tell her to do that after the SP2 install. (grin)
"can you explain what's happening here please"
I'd like to know also, why is this enumeration problem coming up after
the install of SP2?
Thanks,
Treeman

sp2 put in a driver that doesn't work on that system. There is only one fix for an incompatible driver. Get a better one.
