A8N-SLI Motherboard - Should I go with 2 6600GT's?

Just recently purchased myself an A8N-SLI PCI Express Motherboard along with a AMD Athlon 64 3700+ (San Diego) chip, and I am at a crossroads...

Should I go ahead and purchase 2 6600GT SLI 128MB DDR3 cards and link them up, OR should I purchase a single 6800 GT 256MB DDR3?

I am currently thinking the best choice would be two 6600GT cards... what do all of you think?

Another vote for a single GF6800GT (or a X800XL).

Is there any type of limiting factors? Im not sure exactly, but I believe the combined processing power of both 6600 gt's might cover over what a single 6800 gt could do... would i be wrong in thinking this? Of course, I honestly dont know much about dual SLI connections yet, or how it handles memory load and bandwidth or bottlenecks in it... any details into if having one or the other (2 6600's, or a 6800) would be appreciated =)

Having a benchmark done on a 6800 GT is great, but its very hard to compare that benchmark with one that i cant find.. a system setup with dual PCI 6600gt's....
Edited by WowMike2002 on 05/25/05 06:18 PM.

There are actually a lot of reviews of SLI 6600GT, it equals the performance of a 6800GT in apps that utilizes SLI, in the ones that doesn't... well it falls far behind. So a vote goes to the 6800GT, if you have money SLI that. SLI 6600GT is just a waste of the technology, because a single 6800GT performs better and is cheaper than 2 6600GT's.

Alrighty.. perfect, thats what i was needign to hear... I had found benchmarks done on the single 6600 gt, and on the single and SLI 6800 GT, but i wasnt able to find any on the SLI 6600GT...

I will buy myself a 6800 GT and later down the road probably SLI it eventually, 300-350 bucks is a bit for a graphics card currently :)

Get the single card. iF you buy 2 6600GT's its the end of the upgrade path unless you want to start back over and spend a ton of money.
