loose zaxxon joystick

My Zaxxon seems to have excessive play in the joystick.
Is there a remedy or is this normal?

Normal wear and tear. The remedy is to either replace the joystick with a
newer model, or to replace the grommet inside the assembly. Here is a link
to what that looks like, although I can't guarantee it is the right one for
your joystick.

Zaxxon doesn't use a grommet. It has a spring to return to center.
