Hi guys,

i've got a common problem when i'm booting my custom build pc but i do not know the answer.
i just purchased a ssd vector 256gb and intalled it in my pc.

old specs:
i7 950
asrock x58 extreme 3
asus HD 5830
18gb ddr3 1600 cl9
1tb hdd
dvd burner
i attached 1 sata 3 port to the usb ports on the top of my computer case just for fun (i detached this but it obviously didn't help)

everything workes fine if i insert my ssd in a sata 2 port (using sata 2 or 3 cable).
however, i get the error when i'm inserting it in a sata 3 port (using sata 2 or 3 cable).
i've tried both sata 3 ports and i get the same error.

if i then put the windows 7 64bit cd in the dvd player it starts (i can remove the cd a few seconds later when windows starts)
no problem to be found further.

i assume there is something with the sata 3 ports but what?

i installed the boxed sata 3 driver --> no help
i intalled the ?new? sata 3 driver from asrock website --> no help

some of you might understand the question marks around my head...

i hope you can help me with this, kind of a waste buying a ssd and attach it to a sata 2 port when you have a sata 3 port.

Nobody that can give me a hint or suggestion?

i've read dozens of threads with "reboot and select ..." but all of them had issues with windows or with their HDD/SDD.
Because it works fine in the sata 2 port i know that is not the case with me.

I hope someone in here can put me in the right direction.

Regards,

Ysball
