SVGA+ on a Dell D610

Hi,
I am thinking about getting a D610. I would need a greater resolution
than 1024x768 and from the looks of things it looks like SVGA+ is the
only alternative. I am also concerned that this resolution with a 14.1
display. Any opinions on this screen ? I have seen the D600 XGA and
find it rather dull. I am using a C810 with 1600x1200. It is usable but
again the screen is dull(IMO).
Thanks

I'm very satisfied with the SVGA+ (1400x1050) on my D610; it's viewable
but not headache inducingly small. Brightness is adequate for me; my
only complaint is the lack of a way to disable the dislay while leaving
the laptop running to save battery while I'm compiling (seems to be a
common Dell problem). The D610 is a really solid machine, and I'd
definitely recommend it.

Nick, does the left palm area still get warm like the previous D600?

Thanks in advance.

The left palm area is cool right now (and I'm halfway through
recompiling my linux kernel, so this is max load). I can defnitely feel
heat on the keys above the processor (the left side keys -- those above
shift and to the left of f) but it's nothing significant. My previous
laptop was also 14.1" (a Thinkpad T21) and it used XGA; I much prefer my
D610's resolution.

Majority of the users at the last place I worked thought 1400x1050 was too
small on a 14.1" screen. We had to change them to 1024x768 screens.

Personally, I'd go with the XGA myself on 14.1". :)
