Don't have much money, probably around $150 to spend.
I currently have a ATI Radeon 9600XT 128mb and want something more powerful for Battlefield 2, eventhough I can run it at 800x600 pretty well.

Should I got for a ATI Radeon 9800 PRO?

Or wait until the next generation, due in less than a week and all the mid-range of the current generation should see a price drop within 1-2 month.

Umm yes 1-2 month is optimistic. Thats the kind of figure we could expect if nVidia and ATI could pump lots of card from day one.
But it never happens...IMO you shoudl still wait because de 9600XT is still good!

Meh. I wouldn't bother with anything less than a vanilla X800/6800, if you've alreday got a 9600XT.

Assuming you could get $60 on ebay for your old card, you should be able to score an X800/6800 with the $210 easy...

Might be wise because you card is far from obsolete.
Altough if you plan to sell it, it wont be worth much around x-mas, alaways something to keep in mind..
