8X AGP in older 4X AGP slot - will it work?

Ok guys, we have a:

Motherboard manufacturer Intel Corporation
Motherboard model D845PESV, AAA97669-107
Graphic Interface AGP
AGP Status enabled, rev. 2.0
AGP Data Transfer Rate 4x
AGP Max Rate 4x
AGP Side Band Addressing supported, not enabled
AGP Aperture Size 32 MBytes

can I put a newer AGP 8X card in here? I've been reading about voltage differences etc...i think this 4x slot being revision 2 means some sort of voltage change between the newer agp slots/standards, and that not all of the newer agp cards would work in it? can anyone enlighten me or give me some more info?

There aren't any AGP 8x cards. There are only 8x/4x and 8x/4x/2x cards now. Either supports 4x, so why would you think there might be a problem?
