I have not been keeping track of all the Nvidia driver updates, for most of my computers are ATI these days, but I am getting my old Ti4200 back into commission, and is there a better draver to use for that card than the stable ones from a year and a half ago? 44.?? I forrget the exact numbers now, but I have a few of the old ones still around... this will be on a 3rd LAN computer...

Funny, I was just looking into this last night. For the past 18 months or so I've been continually updating my driver everytime there was a new one available (beta's and officials)...I must have installed 30+ different drivers in that time.

My best benchmark scores came from the 53.03 series, specifically the Omega 53.03 set. I also had high scores with the 60.72 official set. The 60.XX and higher series are nice because they have the application profiles. Ultimately, benchmark scores don't really mean much to me as long as they play my games nicely.

I decided to re-install the 60.72's and play some games. My framerates were less than ideal, so I went back to the most recent 77.XX series available on Nvidia's website...I'd go back to the 53.03's but I'd lose the advantage of having the application profiles so I think I'll stick with the 77's.

There has to be a point where these newer drivers won't provide any advantages, because they aren't being programmed for older cards like the 4200 anymore...however, the added little features (like application profiles) make it worth the change.

I'd suggest vising guru3d.com and check out the downloads section, grab a few and give them a try.
