I'm working on a couple of projects (that I will share will everyone
later) and I need some help - answer these two questions for me:
1) What 5 arcade icons/characters/vehicles would you say are most
well-recognized (by us collectors anyway) and could be classified as
"Saving the Earth"? preferably ones from the 80s. Looking for mostly
space-themed games.
Some of the ones I thought of are: Your ship from Space Invaders, your
ship from Galaxian, your ship from Galaga, your guy from Robotron, your
ship from Defender, your ship from Asteroids (though it could be argued
it wasn't saving the Earth). Mario from DK wouldn't count because he's
not really saving the Earth. Get it?
2) Conversely, what 5 arcade icons/characters/vehicles would you say are
most well-recognized and could be classified as "Threatening the Earth"?
preferably ones from the 80s. Looking for mostly space-themed games again.
The ones I came up with: The aliens from Space Invaders, Galaxian,
Galaga, Defender. I couldn't come up with any others that threatened the
earth and are recognizable.
