Danger account - partially terminated - completely stupid

Hi,

I've had - and enjoyed using - an HipTop for the past year, but after
breaking it in a very stupid fashion that only me is able of doing so,
I had to stop using it (since buying a new one at 200$ doesn't attract
me since the HipTop 2 is supposed to get out someday.....(well that
would be another topic..); So I called up Fido and tolled them to
remove my 20$ for Internet Access account, without telling them I'd
stop using it or that I broke it;

Minutes later, I could not log on to fidohiptop.ca anymore, hence
preveting me from copying my very worthy to my eyes address book, and
emails. (The thing is, when I first got my hiptop, I didn't even have
the 20$ unlimited internet package - since it didn't exist - and still
I used it (had access to fidohiptop.ca, so I don't like the link they
made, that is terminating my account because I asked to remove an
internet package...)

Now the real thing is: they disabled my access to my account , but
HAVEN'T DISABLED MY EMAIL ADDRESS. In other words, people probably sent
me important emails on that address, but never had feedback saying that
this address does not exsists and so on...

When I figured that out, I called Fido, who called Danger, who finally
told me that it was very normal, and that my address will be up for at
least a year or so, but still I won't be able to access it. They told
that it was the way things were, and that nobody could do anything
about it; which I very much have a problem with. Just remove my account
for god'sake!

Anyways, right now I'm superpissed and don't want to call their US
phone numbers (danger) and be set on hold forever, ending up paying too
much; so I sent them an email but who nows when will that take in
effect...

I took (wasted) my precious time to call Danger about , which told me
exactly what I tought, that is that is none of their business, and this
Fido's trouble;
So I called back Fido, and told my story to a guy, who in turn
contacted their tech, and came back to me saying that it couldn't be
done since the address is deactivated, hence they can't see it in their
log, but not terminated. At this point, I'm desperatly fighting to stay
somewhat polite and pointing the fact that my request is very very very
easily fullfiled, by just removing my address from their db of users
from either their system or imap server (I don't know how they work);
but still the rep came back in force with the fact it was not possible;
that they can't do such an easy task of removing an account from their
db.

Right now I'm superpissed (yet again) and don't know what to do

Couldn't you re-active the account, then pickup your emails, then ask
them to change your email address to name_terminated@fido.ca, then
cancel the account.

No, I could not;
and changing my address wouldn't help neither

Yes, changing tha address means that our old address becomes unused
right away (with messages bouncing) while the new address lingers on for
whatever period they keep them after account termination.
