I have decided to upgrade my ATI 9800XT to a X850XTPE. Newegg offers an ATI card and a Saphire card. Both seem to be identical except for the price. The ATI retail card is $469 and the Saphire retail card is $439. Does anyone have any idea if these two cards are the same. Can anyone give me feedback on the Saphire product. I have ran ATI cards in the past but wouldn't mind saving a couple of $$$$.
Thanks

I was going to say Sapphire even without the price difference, but now it's for sure...

What is the (BBA) version? And does the X850XTPE run cool? It looks like the fan draws air from the case and vents outside rear of case.

Thanks Pauldh.
My 9800XT is by no means a crummy card but I am looking forward to cranking up the settings on BF2. Even with the 9800XT the only way I can get the framerates that satisfy is to dumb down the res and leave the settings at med. I'm sure that as new games come out they to will be more demanding of my card. I put this system together a little more than a year ago and am not ready to go to PCI just yet. I felt that beefing up my AGP vidio card would keep me on the cutting edge untill I go PCI and hand this machine down to my son. My son agrees that is a good plan.

the better plan would just be to hop onto the pcie band wagon now considering how prices for 64bit c'puting/mobo combos have come down since forking out that much could already get you the creme de la creme of gfx cards as of now, least it'll be justifiable to do so knowing it'll make good business sense...then again, the best plans are never to be found in rush jobs.

How could he switch to PCI-e now for similar costs? Besides a new mobo, what PCI-e card can match a $399 BBA X850XTpe for the same price? It's out of stock, but others are out there too like this $398 Sapphire. The $250 X800XL PCI-e is very attractive though for someone needing a system upgrade.
