Hello, this no doubt has an obvious answer to anyone who has at least vaguely kept up with current news in the graphics card market, but as I've been backpacking round the world for the last year (got back yesterday)...... I need to upgrade my graphics card, I live in a small town with two computer shops (two that are worth going to anyway), im taking my sys to a lan party this afternoon, so I need to get a graphics card from one of them this morning, the short list is this:

RADEON 9600XT AGP 256MB DDR DVI + TV OUT
RADEON 9800SE AGP 128MB ALL IN WONDER
CHAINTECH Geforce 6200 256MB

I've got a gig of DDR400, so I guess having a graphics card with only 128MB might not be so bad (whether having more sys ram will counteract having less video ram I dont really know though), in which case im thinking maybe the 9800SE is the best bet? Would really appreciate some advice from anyone, there is a small difference in price between all the cards, but not enough to be worth taking into account.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Cheers
Tane

In those cards, 256MB of memory would do nothing for performance, 128MB is fine. I'd go for the 9600XT (or save money if they have a 128MB version)which should be cheaper than the 9800SE and perform on par. But if you can find them at the shops, A Radeon 9700 pro, 128MB (256-bit) Radeon 9800 pro, or GF6600GT AGP would be far superior to any card you mentioned.
