Hi,

I Was thinking of starting up a LAN Party type affair and I keep hearing about Sponsors from here there and everywhere but how do you go about getting these companies to sponsor your event? Is there like a minimum figure of attendees needed? will they only sponsor if you have press coverage or something?...I enjoy small LAN days with a number of friends at my house but am interested in making it bigger. Can anyone please tell me how it all works?

Thank you!

Each company has their own set of objectives for sponsoring LANs. Some have specific ways in which they process requests for sponsorship.

ATI for example has people request it through their website.

Others don't have anything like that and you have to contact them via telephone to see if there is someone that can help. (Marketing/Public Relations)

If you can figure out how all of it works... publish it on the web for a fee and you will be rich.

First I suggest that you read the LANMash 2 article and look specificly at the section where I interviewed Kirill. He can tell how he did part of it.

The second thing you shoulddo is GO to larger LANs and see what they do. Ask questions.

The next thing I would suggest is that you contact people that run larger LANs that you can't attend and ask them specific questions based on your experience at your LANs and the larger ones that you have attended.

I hope this helps.
