Man I hope this isn't true or else Nvidia will have no reason to lower prices.

reaffirms what industry analysts have known and been saying all along seeing how its fall and pickup in both pp/vol have sparked off alotta interest though, so its really upto ati to spitout something tangible, as of now anything at all, to put on shelves, to see a "sigh of relief" spike up soon...just lets hope they pull through cyclically.

Would a 16 pipe card at 700 speed be so bad? Isn't it theorietically (Ahh, can't freaking spell) like a 32 piped card at a 350 speed? I maybe way off, but that's what I read somewhere.

I would honestly say to avoid any hassle, frusteration, or dissapointment, simply go with nVidia. The 7800 GTX is nice and the 20 piped 7800 GT expected to come out looks nice, too.

ATI has blown it, in my mind, and they don't deserve to have consumers waitng on them to the extent we all are. Maybe they'll get it down next gen. with the R600, but for now, they simply blew it, and if the rumor is true, then then there's nothing really to get excited about, eh?

STFU YOU FUCKlNG NVIDIOT!

LOL no, i agree with you, ATI promised something that will blow our minds, but now this R520 is starting to look more and more like Nvidia's NV30. Nvidia's 7800GT priced at 450 looks good, but i'd prefer it at 399, like the 6800gt when it came out.

And Im not sure the yield on the 24 pipes card are soo good they will have cripple many card to make them 20 pipes...Altough this is purely an opinion, hopefulyl im wrong!

Thats horrible news for everybody. Means higher overall prices(with no competition) and no kick-ass high end card for a while. At least the 7800GTX and GT are awesome. I must say, it looks like Nvidia won this round.

They're getting their arses handed to them on a silver platter right now. I just hope they get good products to the street to keep driving prices down...

B cubed - right on the money! Competition = cheaper pricing for consumers.

It's true right now ATI is not even in this round so NV is cashing in and winning. But I don't believe all the rumors. That may end up being the case that NV wins this round even after R520 release, but I'll wait for an actual release and reviews on retail cards before deciding who wins. If R520 just matches GF7800GTX, then it's an NV win. Waiting months, ATI needs to outright take the performance crown or it's too little too late.

Sorry to give the bad news everybody.lol Man ATI must've really sat on their butts after the 9700/9800 days. They haven't really brought anything new to the table since then if you think about it. Don't get me wrong it was so good a core that X800 series were still damn good cards. It's not over by any means but every day that goes by more and more will be buying 7 series cards from Nvidia. The 7800GT looks like it'll sell alot atleast with a decent price. If Nvidia gets a card out similar to the 6600GT in the 7 series soon it'll be a slaughter.

A 6600GT in the 7 series could really "be the nail in the coffin" for ATI. Nvidia would then control the high end and mainstream cards.

If ATI wants to come out with something huge, they'll need to delay the launch again, i guess that's possible, since they could heavily market and promote Crossfire, to try and hold out.

Even if it manages to beat out the 7800GTX, I won't be happy with a super-duper clocked core on a 16-pipe card. Just seems too much like a X850XTSM3SE(SM 3.0 steriod edition), even if it's a new design. Also would look like a brute force desperate attempt to regain the top spot, which I expected R520 to easily do. With the 32-pipe rumors that floated around, I braced for a 24 pipe card, but not 16.

Pulled this off of B3D. I'd need a GGA explanation to make sense of it. 16 pipes but not your normal pipes?

I have no idea what that means, Crash/GGA's help is required, but if those specs are true, we can expect Nvidia to launch constant attacks on the fact it's a 16 pipeline card, and call it outdated.

Well it would be outdated but depending on performance it's hard to guess how well it would sell. I really can't see ATI taking all this time and not putting out atleast 24 pipes.
