Mr Punter, in case you are reading this, it would be nice if you could
chime in with what you know of the merging of the 2 networks Micreocell
with Rogers).
With Ottawa "done", will you be updating your web pages to reflect the
disapearance of Microcell, will you get some idea of what percentage of
Microcell sites survived versus shutdown ?
Any idea of how the merger is being accomplisehd at the central office ?
have all fido number been moved to the Rogers CO, with just
billing/authorsation information shuttled between Rogers and Microcell,
or do calls still ge routed through Microcell CO infrarstucture, with
just a different set of antennas being used ?
What about echo cancellers ? Are those now handled with Rogers, or does
Microcell stll make use of theirs ?
When City Fido came out in Vancouver, there were many complaints of
insufficient circuits betwene Microcell and Telus, resulting in many
fast busy signals when trying to call the landline world. If they are
switching Fido customers onto Rogers's network, doesn't that risk making
this problem in each city they do that in ?
Can Rogers easily tell Bell "add X circuits to my lines, and cut the
microcell circuits" ? Does anyone know if Rogers will be adding as much
landline circuit capacity to its network as it is widrawing from
Microcell's ? Or will it see an opportunity to save money by reducing
the circuit/subscriber ratio, resulting in a higher number of fast busy
signals (but a a "tolerable" level ?)
