Installing xp on a laptop? Anything special?

I have an inspiron 5000 running win 98. I want to reformat and install win xp on it. Is there anything special I have to do to install an os on a laptop?

There should be no problems installing XP. Just make sure you back up your data and format the HDD and do a fresh install. I've tried upgrading from 98 to XP and had nothing but problems.

If you have only an upgrade disk for XP, make sure you have a CD for WIN98, as it will want to check to make sure you have an existing OS. IOt doesn't matter if its installed or not, just that you have one.

going to xp is important since newer hardwares requires newer OS to maximizzze the capacities of the hardwares.

and if you have a legal cd of xp, installing sp1 is much recommended.
