Keyboarding issue with letter P

When I type the letter P I end up or sometimes end u(*&%p(*&% with a symbol
as shown. Some times it produces the number associated with the symbol. Num
lock is off. My keyboard language setting says "US". Some one help(*&
(*&%#please?

Do you have a 2nd keyboard to try out? Is it the same result?

I suspect is keyboard ascii error...

Im on a laptop I will try and find a USB printer tommorow.
I am using a sony viao FG series and windows XP
I will look into this ascii error
