Unfortunately nothing about pipelines, nor ROPs.

Pretty nice prices IMO, and close to the $449US mentioned by Xbit, what's 2 buck between friends?

LOL!

BTW, some specs (20pixel pipes 7 vertex) and some benchies;

Looking pretty nice, outdistances the G6800U and X850XTPE by a good margin, and stays close to the GTX.

That's hilarious they are selling them already. Is that $2 over list, $48 under list, or $52 over list?

Wow, it spanks the 6800U and X850XTpe in Farcry. Looks like a big seller.

What the hell?!?!?!? It'll all chinese or something. Can I get some english benchmarks?

However, if it does work well, I might have to go with it rather than the GTX. Save myself $150 + taxes (@15%), which I can definitly use.

I believe the actual benchmarks begin on page 8 or something. But I don't think that site liked me very well. :p

Nice results. It's good to see such prosperous FPS in the titles that used to only be acieved somewhat by SLI (not always in 1600x1200 or smaller, though).

I think it would be interesting if the price of the GT dropped like its sister the GTX. Perhaps not a drastic $100 decrease, but atleast $50 within the next few weeks would be nice.

Heres one from Newegg at $420. Now I'm tempted to use EVGA's step-up program. An extra $70, I think I will.

Not that I'd actually recommend going out and buying them from Tiger Direct. Just saying that there is supposed Canadian availability.

Thx for the link, reading [H]'s review right now. Pricewatch has tons of them if you search for 7800GT. Prices starting at $404. Cheapest 7800GTX is a $468.

Have you noticed these things are clocked all over the place? Cores are 400, 425, 445, 450 and mem 1000, 1050, 1070 or 1076. The faster ones so far are priced almost as high as the 7800GTX at eWiz.

AaaHAAA! Hmm, reading into [H]'s conclusion, this quote below just screams he knows something about R520. Maybe not and these 16-pipe R520 B3D rumors are getting to me, but it just seems like a good possibility they have their hands on one and we will see this comment further explained soon. Seeing as you are pretty good at reading into things, what do you think?

We know many people get caught up in pipeline counts debate lately. The GeForce 7800 GTX does have 24 pixel pipelines and 16 ROPs, while the GeForce 7800 GT has 20 pixel pipelines. We are starting to move into a time now however where pipeline count really isn’t as important as a performance indicator as it used to be. In the past, you could simply look at the fillrate and guess the performance. With video cards today, I think we need to start moving beyond this kind of thinking and not get so caught up in the details that may sway our purchasing decisions. Definitions and architectures are changing; how a pipeline is defined is changing; and how performance is derived from fillrate is changing. We should simply look at the game play performance and image quality delivered by each card and make an informed purchase decision based on that criteria.

There not much in the price between the GTX and GT, and thers not much difference in performance, just like the gt and ultra was last year.

Well, as pickxx said above, bargains are out there.

$331 or $331 + tax is quite the bargain for this beast. Quote from techbargains:

At lauch, there was more than a $100 difference between street prices and (availablity) of the 6800GT and the Ultra. So the Ultra made little sense to me. But with 7800GTX selling for almsot $100 under list price and the 7800GT selling for $450+ at some sites, I'd go 7800GTX for sure over a higher clocked list price GT. Even looking at $404 for the XFX or EVGA GT, I'd be looking for the GTX. Personally, I'd definately spend $50 more for the GTX. Of course, based on list price, Dell has the GT for $331 and the GTX is $473 through them. (more than EWiz $468) So the GT through Dell is the bargain now.

So (best US prices I know now)
BFG 7800GT OC for $331+ tax from Dell
vs.
$468 Leadtech 7800GTX from EWiz
=
I'd say,Dude go to Dell before they are gone.

Ive noticed that too and find it really a marketing f-up. They made the 7800GT too close to the GTX. BFG has a water-cooled version at 470mhz which is higher than their 7800gtx OC. There is not much difference as far as pixel pipes and v-pipes so one might as well get the 7800GT and OC it a little.

Even the benchies are relative the same as the GTX. Wierd...

The benchies are close because of CPU bottleneck for the two cards. If we can get better CPU's and some new game engines we'll see more differences.

Not much time, busy day/night, but just a quickie.

Only Canadian retailer I've seen so far to have them listed.

NCIX is a Canadian site, located in Burnaby. So tigerdirect would've been the second unless you missed NCIX at the very top of the page.

3DChipset.com has a bunch of linkies to several reviews on the 7800GT, including one from Anandtech.
Yeah the thing is when I posted in the AM it still wasn't launched yet.

Yeah the [H] results are interesting and it's true. There are certain advantages to the design of the G70 series, but really they are about conserving the space on a die or using it better.

It's only slightly larger than a 16/16 (fragment engine / ROP) and performs better, but it's smaller/cheaper than a 24/24 chips and would only perform worse in a few situations (mainly single texture). But don't anyone mistake this for a deeper pipe, they are simply relying on the reality that in most cases there are multiple passes and such that leave the ROPs with nothing to output, therefore the impact of 24/16 isn't goinf to make much difference. Of course 24/24 will outperform and should never underperform, but whether it's noticeable in actual games would be the issue, and likely it won't be so it's a very wise move especially if you can increase marhins, and hopefully lower prices.

Now the unified shader future is REALLY going to throw people for a loop when it come to calculating power. It could have dynamically (pixel/vertex) 32/12 one moment and the next 16/28 depending on the requirements, and then you'd not really be able to compared raw rates in games so much as the efficiencies in alternating those loads that happen so fast you wouldn't know what is pushing hardest except to look at the way the older architectures handle the same situation.

Yeah, I agree many games are cpu limited. But stress the cards alot (see Anand review) and the GTX blows out the GT. Of course as seen in [H]'s review is a matter of just reducing one IQ setting (AA, Softshadows, etc.) and the GT's has GTX framerates. But the GT can not handle the best playable settings of the GTX in any game test but HL2.

Basically to me the GT is very impressive, but it is no GTX. Sure, a reviewer could run 100 tests and show idetical results, but a good reviewer who knows how to stress the GPU's will clearly show that the GT is far behind the GTX under certain conditions. They are not equal, but unless it's a top notch system with a monitor capable of running 1600x1200 or higher, they will look equal.
