How to reboot an acer aspire 5733 laptop w/o disk

My daughter's Acer Aspire 5733 will not boot. I received an error message saying faulty hardware or CD-ROM drive is failing. I have done all I know and nothing. Can someone help? Thanks.

use hirum boot cd and make it on a usb stick and boot from the usb stick.
