As you know, many Ms Pacs have faded red paint. I was wondering what
you all think if re-painting the red (done very well) would take or add
value to the overall game if it went up for auction?

I think most people who buy Ms. Pac's would appreciate having the color
touched up, and be willing to pay more for a good looking one. Collectors
who would ding the value because the paint was touched up (likely) probably
don't make up a large part of the market for such popular machines.
Of course few people ever agree with me!

The problem is the whole side is faded. If you touch up one part with
the origanal color it will make that part look new and the rest faded.
Heres what i did. I cut out a quarter size piece of my pac and brought
it to Home depot. HD cant make a color without a quarter size piece.
They processed the color and I bought a quart. Then filled the part I
cut out and painted it.
:]

You're talking about the pink correct? I've had several Ms Pac's that
had good blue and yellow, and just needed the pink touched up.
I used the color codes off Apollo's site and they were an excellent
match, I've been able to touch up scrapes in the blue and have them
blend in very well. One technique that's worked well for deep scrapes
is to apply the paint heavily to the scrape with a brush, and then wipe
off the excess leaving only the scrape painted.
On the topic of Ms Pac cabs, I've also used yellow t-molding instead of
black or blue and it looks great (IMHO). Generally I stick to
originality, but yellow looks good enough to warrant a break from
tradition.
