Hi

This is for my Father and not me.
I don't have his Specs apart

XP PRO
APPROX 1GHZ ATHLON
256MB RAM
32MB ONBOARD GRAPHICS.

He downloaded a Video(at least he says it's a Video and it has the Media Player Icon on it) from WINMX.
He showed it me yesterday as he could not delete it.
When he tries it says a programme is running that uses the file'even if he has just booted.
So i did msconfig and disabled everything in startup.
But it makes no difference.
Also this Video won't play and even just right clicking properties takes about 10 minutes(no exageration) and puts his cpu workload at 100%.
I have done ctrl alt del and processes and tries disabling the processes 1 at a time and then deleting this file'but no luck.
Eventually i shut the system down.
And we can't do a system restore.
When the PC reboots it says unable to restore to the date chosen..

Any ideas?

Thanx

One of the thumbnail files is corrupted. Switch of thumbnail caching and you should be able to delete the file. XP has probs creating thumbnails for large media files.

Death, taxs and P2P are we clear?
