So I've run into a problem since installing 64 bit windows... 3D games stutter and are unplayable. I think it's because my Gainward 6800GT is overheating, cos the 64 bit driver neglects to up the fan speed when the card processes more information. Previously, when running 32bit windows, the card would get really loud when I played games like Doom 3 or Far Cry. Interestingly, one game that doesnt have a problem is Chronicles of Riddick. I'm using the latest 64 bit Nforce drivers (77.77).
Anyway, I've tried using RivaTuner to adjust the MinFanSpeed setting, but I don't understand the syntax... Can anyone help? Is there another way/program to adjust the fan speed manually? Or should I just got back to 32bit?
yes, the more complex stuff going on, the more it stalls. I stops maybe once every 10 seconds for about 10 seconds. But it varies alot.
I had a similar problem in xp 32 bit when using Nforce drivers. It only went away when I downloaded drivers from Gainward. Unfortunately they don't provide 64 bit drivers as far as I can tell...
