Guys, Since upgrading to a SLI duel 6800 GT setup I have had problems trying to run games or even my desktop at a resolution below my max resolution for my display(1280x1024). Display is a AG Neovo S-19 tried using a single card but still same problem I figures its an issue with the Nvidia drivers but can't work out which setting it is to sort it any help would be appreciated.

Your monitor is an LCD. As such, it actually has a fixed number of pixels on it, in your case 1280 x 1024. because it has that many actual pixels, it simply can't display a mode like 1024x768 correctly, because it'll have to use some odd scaling thing whereby some pixels are displayed with one physical pixel, and others use 2. This makes it look all blurred and unpleasant. In theory, you could use a res that was exactly half as much in both directions and all the pixels would then be square (2x2), so it would look crisp but blocky, and I don't think you'll want to run anything at 640x512 will you?
Standard CRT monitors work differently, so do not have this limitation (but of course size, weight, power consumption, etc are all worse on the them)
a More important question, is why the hell would someone with 2x6800GT cards want a lower res than 1280x1024? I have but one 6800GT, and I run most games in 1600x1200 as it is.

some of the older games I have dont support 1280x1024 resolutions.
As an update I have tried the analogue input using a DVI converter plug still gives the same problems.
Was just hoping to be able to play some of my older games at full screen as I used to with my ATI x800 card.
I don't have any personal experience with SLI rigs but AFAIK it works the same as a single card generally...
What problem do you get then? Does it Display ok-ish, but just isn't as crisp as you hoped (which would be the problem I suggested earlier) or is it just filling 80% of the screen and leaving a big black border around the edge (or down one edge and the bottom or something). If it's the latter then perhaps fiddling with the monitor's settings might help.
If you could give more information then someone might chime in who has had experience of it.

the problem I have is that if the resolution set is lower than 1280x1024 then the picture is displayed at the selected resolution in a box in the centre of the screen with the rest being black. and a 1024x768 box in the middle of the screen is pretty hard to work with. I am struggling to understand why with same display this wasn't a problem with my ATI card and when the setup was plugged into a friends 21" display there was no problem. I am almost at hair pulling out time. All help and suggestions are being gratefully received.
Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Geforce XYZ -> "Digital Flat Panel Settings" in the pop-out box to the left.
Here is a site with some info, if you scroll down a little.
In order for the option to be there though, I think you need to be using the DVI connection. I'm using a (cheap!) 17" LCD here at work that uses the old VGA adapter instead, and I don't get that option.
But if you read that article you'll see it seems like the option you want is there.

Oh yeah, you may need/want to install CoolBits too. Just google it.
