Whats the deal with this? I couldnt see the pics from the article. I havent noticed any glitched with my 7800gtx so wanted to know if this is a driver or hardware issue?

same here. am still scrutinizing details with different drivers on hq settings via coolbits/rivatuner all on max with sm3/tri/16xaf/8s forced. no shimmers on the floor grates/fences/rails/stairways whatsoever. strange phenom though, im thinking its in the setting details and monitors being used???

I have this card and it is nothing short of spectacular. Maybe I don't have a keen eye for things like this, but I really don't notice anything except the occasional cuts from disabling vsync.

Thats a possibility. Could be linked to the refresh rates?

Some games out there require Vsync to prevent glitches and wondered if they have done that.

I personally hate Vsync. I get about 90-120fps in CS:S but with vsync its at a flashing 59-60. I don't really think its worth keeping on. Is there a way to increase the maximum fps while running vsync?

VSync is meant to litim FPS to the monitor refresh rate - This stops / limits tearing of the image.

The only way to increase FPS when Vsync is enabled is to increase your monitor's refresh rate. Anything past 50fps canne be noticed by the naked eye to I just up the eye candy, getting higher quality with no change in FPS is better.

The monitor doesn't explain the transition patterns on 3Dcentre, as the monitor is not involved. It's either driver or HArdware, and if it's the driver, then it's recognizing the difference between GF6800 and GF7800 and not fixing the problem when going to HQ, or it's unable to determine how HQ should differ (meaning they've coded a fix in for the GF6800 and are aware of the problem with the defaults).

More testing by those who are impartial is needed to find out what's going on. I trust ComputerBase is going nutso behind the scenes like they always have with such issues.

It'd be interesting to see what Borsti thinks ashe seemed pretty interested and somewhat vocal about the Ai issue when everyone was still trying to figure out WTF was going on.

Why don't you PM him and ask when his analysis will be out. We want answers.

I should add; I read on some forum that NV says a fix is one the way. Wonder if old NV is going to put the pressure on the big sites to brush this under the matt until then.

We'll see, while they say they have a fix in store it'll likely come after the 80.xx series.

The 78.11 have been tested to no avail, and the 80s were already hit the beta testers long before this started getting serious traction (despite 3Dcentre talking about it for over a month in their forums).

I suspect it'll be either shoehorning in a final 7X.xx series (which would be dated after the 80.xx) for this fix, or waiting for the generation 80 to launch with the final WHQL version including the fix. Computerbase when talking about the SLi changes in the 80series also mention they hope that the series will include fixes for the FiLtering-Optimizations in the 70series.

I do find it funny nV doesn't really mention why it's happening just that they will fix it.
