I have a Toshiba sate lite m100 and I'm always using my laptop with AC power. and never take it out from power for using with battery. so I just want to know that for not destroying my battery is it better to take the battery out or its better to keep it inside.
because some of my friends telling me that battery has got expiry date it would be finished in a specific time and it needs to be charge an discharge at least once in a month.so its better to keep the battery inside ...

And some other telling me that because you are not using the battery and always using the AC power so you need to take it out because battery has got charge limitation and in this case you are always charging it and destroying it.
So I'm really confused about that .
I would be really appreciated if someone could help me in this case
thanks in advance

Discharging a battery of any sort is a must so once a fortnight you should run it on batteries till the low battery warning comes. That will make your battery stay in good health with one discharge in two weeks
And ya you should leave the battery always on as if there i an influx of a huge power due to malfunction of AC power source your laptop can make the switch to batteries and save your work and prevent system internal damaged. So keep the battery in and dont worry over saturation like with mobile batteries does not occur with laptops as the battery after fully charged is kept off from the AC Power supply...

Here is some good reading on the subject:

http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries

Heat is the main enemy of laptop batteries so monitoring the temperature is important if you care about longevity. If your running software like a video game that causes the batteries to get hot it is probably best to remove the battery during those times, but if the battery is not getting hot, then leave it in.

That's a very good point, but one should always use a surge protector when using a laptop. Personally, I always leave the battery in since I have never worried about battery longevity. Usually, by the time the battery goes out, I'm ready for a new laptop anyway.
