Ive suddenly realized that my 9800pro is running as a 9800np at 290/324. Why is this? can i flash it to back to a pro? This card has samsung memory modules.

The adapter type shown in System Information is RADEON 9800 PRO AGP, so i'm sure it's a pro.

Help, what should i do?????

Ok i clocked it to those speeds with ATITool but i want it to be permanent. I can make ATITool auto run on startup with the 380/340 profile but is it ok to keep changing the speeds? since at boot times it's at non pro speeds.

You would need to flash the BIOS on the card from the 9800np to the 9800Pro BIOS. That would permanetly change it.

Just ask it politely to change back to a 9800Pro, I'm sure it wouldn't have a problem with it.

I'd bet it is a plain 9800 non-pro. Doesn't make sense a 9800 pro would down clock unless you did it yourself through ATI Tool.

Forget what the drivers say, what does the label on the card itself say? Alot of the good 9800's(ones without infinion memory) could be flashed to 9800 pro and a least one person who frequests this forum sold 2 of these flashed 9800 np's as 9800 pro's on ebay.

I tried that with an Infineon mem'd BBA 9800 and it quite unpolitely said no way! So it went back to circuit city; reason fro RMA...it had the crappy Infinion memory...too slow for me.

Actually i got it from ebay so what you're saying about np's sold as pros might be true.
Anyway, i flashed it to a pro. Thanks.

That's 2.85ns, 350MHz(700MHz DDR) memory. It's also found on 9700 pros and if you are lucky, some 9600 pro/xt's.
